Food Waste Friday – 9.16.11

Food Waste Friday keeps me responsible & accountable for my family’s food & finances…thanks to The Frugal Girl!

This week wasn’t great, but it wasn’t awful.  I had a embarrassingly large portion of pasta from last week that didn’t get eaten.  I also had a peach that went from rock-hard to moldy overnight, but I managed to cut off the moldy parts and freeze the rest of it to make a smoothie.  We’ll see how that works out, my mom tells me it’s delicious.

Last Thursday we had WAY more rice than we could eat, and we were headed out of town for the weekend so I knew it was bound to go bad.  So, I tried an experiment.  I put it in the freezer.  This week I defrosted it and made fried rice!  Successful save!  We were too hungry, though, so we ate it before I could manage to take a photo.  🙂

In other news, I’ve been adjusting to a new schedule so I’ve been a bit lazy about blog posts.  I hope to have a new one up this weekend, with any luck!

    1. Thanks! I had never done it before. I knew it would just go bad anyway if I didn’t try, so I wasn’t really risking anything by giving it a shot. I was pleased that it worked!
