Food Waste Friday – 11.11.11

Food Waste Friday keeps me responsible & accountable for my family’s food & finances…thanks to The Frugal Girl!

Well, here we are.  Friday again.  And not a single post since Monday, which had been completed and scheduled for at least a couple weeks.  It’s been busy around here and I’ve been terrible about keeping up!

The good thing is that despite being busy we’ve stuck to our menu plan and enjoyed a no-waste week!  In fact, tonight I even had a couple pretty good saves.  I had some ricotta that was in dire need of using, so I combined it with a half container of pasta sauce, sausage from my freezer I had already browned, and a partial package of lasagna noodles and came up with an impromptu lasagna.  Note to self:  when the sausage is already cooked and the sauce is already made, lasagna isn’t such a chore on a Thursday!  I also had a couple of rolls I made on Sunday that were moving in the stale direction.  I broiled them, buttered them, and called them garlic toast.  Gourmet?  No.  Responsible?  Yes!

  1. Mmmm. Looks yummy! I always go for four-ingredient lasagna myself. I boil the noodles, slice the Velveeta, brown the hamburger, and open the jar of spaghetti sauce. Voila! 40 minutes in the oven and it’s done!
