Food Waste Friday keeps me responsible & accountable for my family’s food & finances…thanks to The Frugal Girl!
On Labor Day one of my projects was to clean out our pantry. I’m sure it could have been much worse, but here are the casualties.
I don’t know why we had 3 bags of croutons. Probably because we never eat croutons, so whenever we get a hankering I can’t imagine we have any laying around so I buy a new bag. Oops.
No other waste this week, though!
Let’s continue with the trend from the last 2 weeks and come up with another way to use up that zucchini. This week I took a bag of last year’s frozen zucchini, squeezed all the water out of it, and put it in my mini-chopper to chop it into fine pieces. I sauteed it in some olive oil and mixed it in with pasta sauce and served it with lasagna roll-ups. The fam never knew the difference. Recipe to come in a few weeks.
